THE WAR IS OVER. THE EXTINCTION HAS BEGUN.

In the desolate aftermath of the Shadow War, the Warlord is dead, and the 4th Legion is broken. Trapped in the volcanic hellscape of the Obsidian Wastes, five thousand Orcs face a slow death by starvation.

General Karg knows the old ways are dead. To save his people, he must do the unthinkable: transform a legion of killers into a nation of builders. He must trade the battle-axe for the plow, and the glory of conquest for the humble work of survival. Under his command, the deep caverns of Emberhall begin to glow with the first fragile light of hope.

But not all warriors can sheathe their blades.

Captain Vorak, Karg’s oldest friend and deadliest commander, sees this new peace as a humiliation—a collar snapped around the neck of the wolf. He dreams of a return to the blood and fire of the vanguard, and he is not alone.

From the shadows, Lord Silas Vane, a merchant of unimaginable wealth and cruelty, watches the fracture grow. He arrives not with an army, but with a single gold coin and a whisper, intent on funding a civil war that will finish what the Alliance started: the total erasure of the Orcish race.

As the first crops rise from the black rock, so does the tension. Brother turns against brother, and the hunger for power threatens to consume the hunger for food.

Karg fought the world to keep his legion alive. Now, to save the Cinderborn, he may have to kill the only family he has left.
